An original shoulder patch of the 34th Infantry Division. This is a Texas Division,note the shape of the patch,it is the shape of a Mexican Cistern "a jug used for carrying water", also the red bull in the centre of the patch depicts one of the old steers that could be seen in Texas. This Division was nicknamed "The Red Bulls".

The 34th Inf Div was the first U.S.Soldiers to land in the E.T.O. or European Theater of Operations. They landed in N.Ireland first and then filtered through to England. they landed at Belfast docks on the 26th of January 1942 and Private Milburn Hanke was the first U.S.Soldier to put foot on out soil officially. The Division trained here for about six months then moved over to England to prepare to move to North Africa and landed in N.Africa as part of Operation Torch, they fought through N.Africa,Sicily,then up into Italy for the long hard slog up into Austria. The 34th Inf Division was the longest serving of any U.S Army Division trough WW2 losing over 3000 men KIA by the end of play.

The 34th Inf Div was the longest serving US Division in the ETO, as you can see on his left sleeve 5 overseas bars each bar denotes 6 months overseas service so two and a half years service, the GI'S called the bars ''Hash Brown's''.
